June 2021 Update:  The Lewis Bay Boathouse is very excited to serve as the base for the Cape Cod Maritime Museum’s new adult Rowing Program.

Cape Cod Maritime Museum volunteer work day for rowing gig

Experienced Cape Cod Maritime Museum volunteers will be offering regular adult rowing excursions around scenic Lewis Bay. The CCMM volunteers have rebuilt and maintained a very nice traditional fixed-seat rowing gig for this new program.  The 28 foot gig will be based at the Lewis Bay Boathouse.  While rowing, there are countless opportunities to learn about our local marine environment, tides, currents, and seasonal weather. The 1 to 1.5 hour trips will be held each weekday.

All equipment, including Personal Flotation Devices, will be provided, and no prior rowing experience is necessary. CCMM’s goal is to provide opportunities for adults to learn and improve rowing skills, while actively enjoying the waters of Lewis Bay.  If you are interested in learning more, please email: rowing@capecodmaritimemuseum.org or call 508-775-1723 for more information.

The board of the Lewis Bay Boathouse would like to thank the Cape Cod Maritime Museum volunteers for their work at the boathouse.  These tireless volunteers repaired and refinished our flagpole, improved outdoor lighting, scraped and repainted, cleared brush, repaired the front fence, and more! Their skills and efforts are evident in these photos.  Many thanks to these volunteers and their exciting new rowing program!
